After the recent formation and swift exit of Typhoon Jacinto from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) yesterday, weather authorities are closely monitoring a large cluster of clouds in the Pacific Ocean just outside the PAR, east of Mindanao.
This cluster has the potential to develop into a new Low Pressure Area (LPA).
According to weather models and the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), there is a high likelihood that this LPA will enter the PAR within the coming days.
Meteorologists are also not ruling out the possibility of this weather disturbance intensifying into a new typhoon over the weekend.
Residents and local governments in affected regions, especially those in Eastern Mindanao, Visayas, and surrounding areas, are advised to stay updated on weather bulletins and prepare for heavy rains and thunderstorms.
The southwest monsoon, enhanced by the recent Typhoon Jacinto, continues to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms, and poses risks of flash floods and landslides in several parts of the country.
As this possible new tropical cyclone forms, continuous monitoring is crucial to provide timely warnings and mitigate potential impacts on communities.
