The Department of Agriculture (DA) is lifting the temporary ban on importing poultry products, including chicken and domesticated and wild birds, from New Zealand.
This decision comes after the successful resolution of avian influenza cases in the country, which had previously led to the suspension of imports as a precautionary measure.
According to the DA, Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. has signed a memorandum order, paving the way for the resumption of imports of specific poultry products such as chicken meat, day-old chicks, table eggs, and poultry semen.
The lifting of the ban is expected to boost the local poultry industry by increasing the supply of these essential products and potentially stabilizing prices.
The DA has assured that strict protocols will be in place to ensure the imported products meet the country's health and safety standards."
